What comes after miningis infrastructure
Aftermine transforms closed and abandoned mines into regenerative climate infrastructure through mine intelligence, methane mitigation, clean energy, water recovery, and landscape restoration.
We create evidence-backed digital twins of closed and abandoned mines, measure and mitigate residual methane, and identify viable pathways for mine-water energy, renewable power, water treatment, ecological restoration, and biological resource recovery. Every project is selected according to site conditions and verified through continuous measurement.
Operating model · six layers, in order
Find. Verify. Design. Finance. Deploy. Report.
- 01
Find
Rank sites from the regulation's own inventories, historic mine data and first measurements.
- 02
Verify
Install compliant source-level monitoring; establish the defensible baseline.
- 03
Design
Match concentration, flow and site conditions to capture, oxidation, heat recovery or use.
- 04
Finance
Build the project economics; contract with the state, the operator or climate finance.
- 05
Deploy
Integrate existing equipment; own the customer, the data and the performance.
- 06
Report
Recurring regulatory MRV and verified abatement reporting.
Where the money would come from
| Line | Kind |
|---|---|
| Site assessment & feasibility | Paid studies — the wedge |
| Monitoring & regulatory reporting | Subscription |
| Engineering & deployment | Project margin |
| Operations & maintenance | Long-term contract |
| Carbon revenue | Upside only — never the base case |

Six ways this dies.
A speculative concept earns credibility by stating, in advance, what would falsify it. If any one of these proves true, the thesis is dead and will be marked as such.
- K1
No authority or operator acknowledges responsibility for a defined group of sites.
- K2
No customer pays for assessment, monitoring or mitigation without relying entirely on voluntary credits.
- K3
No site shows flow and concentration stable enough for plausible economics.
- K4
The first site cannot be addressed with existing equipment — it needs years of original reactor R&D.
- K5
Site access and operational data cannot be obtained.
- K6
The opportunity does not repeat across enough mines to support a company rather than a consultancy.
From the field study · the record at depth
The case, the ladder, the plates — live.
The company thesis as the field study presents it at the bottom of the mine: the case in three plates, the six operating layers, the mitigation ladder under both GWP lenses, and the six ways this dies — every figure stamped.
IV At depth
The expanded vision
Former mines, no longer invisible.
We envision a future in which former mines are monitored landscapes and productive infrastructure: methane is measured and mitigated, mine water provides useful heat, disturbed land supports renewable energy and restored ecosystems, and new biological systems are tested for carbon and water recovery. Aftermine provides the intelligence, engineering platform, and evidence needed to make that transition credible.
