Aftermine develops projects for closed and abandoned mines — starting with residual methane measurement and mitigation, and extending to mine-water energy, water recovery and site reuse.

We create evidence-backed digital twins of closed and abandoned mines, measure and mitigate residual methane, and identify viable pathways for mine-water energy, renewable power, water treatment, ecological restoration, and biological resource recovery. Every project is selected according to site conditions and verified through continuous measurement.

    Install compliant source-level monitoring; establish the defensible baseline.

    Match concentration, flow and site conditions to capture, oxidation, heat recovery or use.

    Build the project economics; contract with the state, the operator or climate finance.

An early-stage venture earns credibility by stating, in advance, what would falsify it. If any one of these proves true, the thesis is dead and will be marked as such.

Authorities and operators: a screening review of a specific mine or portfolio. Researchers: methodology inspection and corrections. Technology providers: monitoring or mitigation equipment that fits the concentration bands on the Methane module. Collaborators: the kill criteria above are the milestones — challenge them.

Former mines, no longer invisible.

We envision a future in which former mines are monitored landscapes and productive infrastructure: methane is measured and mitigated, mine water provides useful heat, disturbed land supports renewable energy and restored ecosystems, and new biological systems are tested for carbon and water recovery. Aftermine provides the intelligence, engineering platform, and evidence needed to make that transition credible.
